Palate: Very fruity palate with a mix of stewed fruits, dessert wine, apple peels and honey. Becomes quite oaky late palate.
Finish: A medium-length finish with barley and freshly mown grass…
Nose: Creamy and tangy notes of citrus, cinnamon, stewed fruits and caramel-drizzled pannacotta.
Palate: The palate is tropical and creamy with nectarines in yoghurt, acacia honey, peaches in cream and butterscotch.
Finish: Ends on tangy oak and grilled grapefruit with plenty of dark sugar caramelised on top…
Nose: Berry compote, crumble, hint of potpourri, almost floral, stewed plums. A mere hint of rancio? Perhaps.
Palate: Initially soft. Creamy, fruitcake, tropical fruit.
Finish: Long, very slight astringency. Oak, some fruit.
Nose: Fragrant, honeyed and sweet, with ripe apricots, honey and sweet white chocolate.
Palate: Mint toffee, caramelised oranges and baked apricot lead to honeycomb, almonds and dates.
Finish: Rich and syrupy, with caramelised citrus and pears fading to fudge and mint.
Nose: Lime and orange peel, coconut and sultanas, with spice and rich dried-fruit notes.
Palate: Spice up front, with ginger and nutmeg leading to toasted almonds and lemon.
Finish: Sweet vanilla and lemon zest fading to white chocolate and spice.
Nose: Soft, clean and refreshing: lemon sherbert and apricots, with honeyed fruit and a touch of toffee and vanilla. Gentle and satisfying.
Palate: A little weightier on the palate, with honey and malt, banana bread and subtle sweet spices. Clean and well balanced.
Finish: The honeyed fruit fades softly, and the finish is whistle-clean.
Nose: Full of winter berries and a touch of port. A good oak and a little cereal hanging in the substratum.
Palate: Sweet and thick. The port note is chewy and rich with notes of barley sugar and cereal and lots of juicy fruit and berries, a tad cloying.
Finish: Long and fruity and quite sweet.
Nose: Soft and sweet, with dried orange peel, cocoa, golden syrup and dried fruit.
Palate :Sweet dark chocolate, toasted spice and balanced barrel-char and coffee bitterness.
Finish: Long, with fresh citrus and slowly sweetening dark chocolate.
Nose: Beguiling aromas of apricots, orange blossom and marmalade, bolstered by subtle spiciness, too – cinnamon and clove. Elegant and seductive.
Palate: The generous fruit continues on to the palate, with oranges and apricots in abundance. There’s a little peppery spice, but the soft, succulent fruit takes hold. Nice balance, and nicely crafted.
Finish: The spiciness takes over from the fruit and lingers, along with a little barrel char.
Nose: Winter spice and treacle, hints of white pepper and a little citrus.
Palate: Rich and full with notes of wood smoke and dry spice, hints of barley and cereal with creamy toffee and a distinct herbal note.
Finish: Quite fruity and long with a note of sultanas and mixed peels.
Nose: Smooth, silky cereal, syrupy flapjacks, polished oak. Dessicated coconut, then other nutty notes: unsalted peanut, brazil nut.
Palate: A silky caress. Unexpectedly strong spicy entry, but always honeyed and rounded by some toasty oak. The honeyed malt is beautifully interwoven around the venerable grain, which must be absolutely ancient.
Finish: A perfectly-integrated slow fade of the palate. Mouthwatering grain, and the honey and spices dwindle slowly. Extremely long but still very gentle.
Nose: A mix of heady toffee apple and very faint smoke. Thick, syrupy malt, digestive biscuits, oak.
Palate: Soft, buttery toffee and general fruitiness. Medium bodied, but very malty and well-constructed blend.
Finish: Golden syrup, creamy spices and malt on the finish.
Nose: Fairly light but oily, with dry oak, honey and gently stony smoke.
Palate: Fuller bodied than the nose suggests, moving from sweet smoke and floral honey to cracked stone, tar and old bonfires.
Finish: Medium length, with soft smoke, woody spice and charred oak.
Nose: Honeyed oats, malty with creamy vanilla, toffee popcorn and a touch of gingerbread. A herby note punches through. Really pleasant.
Palate: Sweet, smooth caramel fudge. Butterscotch. Quite waxy with honey and vanilla coming in waves.
Finish: This finishes more on the heavier side of things with sticky fruits (maybe a bit of trifle?) and faint woodsmoke.
Nose: Hints of mango, mandarin, orange, papaya, clover honey, a kiss of smoke and hint of caramel candy.
Taste: Start of off honey sweet at first, followed by a touch of cinnamon that doesn’t overpower the sweetness. Hint of tropical fruits come on as the spice fades, making this a very complex and changing dram.
Finish: Finish is long and subtle with mango, banana and coconut notes on top of honey sweetness with a lingering hint of spice.
Nose: Hints of fresh apple, pear and the spark of zest from the elegant Speyside malts.
Palate: Fruity sweetness, cinnamon and pepper crackling on the centre of your tongue.
Finish: A sophisticated, smoky finish - the signature of all Johnnie Walker blends.
Nose: Spiced apple, smoky oak and a little toasted brioche.
Palate: Herbal as it opens. This gives way to orange and lemon peels by the bucket-load, followed by another kick of smoky malt.
Finish: Wafts of Sherry-soaked raisins last and last.
Nose: Light with plenty of sweetness. There are hints of dry spice and oily nuts, a touch of smoke.
Palate: Quite smooth and soft with notes of banana milkshake, a mixed nut note, a touch of caramel with crème anglaise.
Finish: Sweet with a little cereal sweetness and toasty oak.
Nose: The smell is all about fresh fruit, apples and pears, with a spiced apple pie quality.
Palate: Vibrant and fruity on the palate, more orchard fruit, with some toffee and cloves.
Finish: Warm spices, cinnamon, cloves and lingering apples.
Nose: More like Lapsang Souchong tea than Lapsang Souchong! One of the smokiest noses from Islay. It's big, very, very concentrated, and redolent of iodine, sweet spices, good, mature Sherry and creamy vanilla. Stunning.
Palate: Very thick and rich. A massive mouthful of malt and Sherry with good fruity sweetness, but also a wonderful sweetness. Big, powerful peat and oak.
Finish: Long, spicy finish, figs, dates, peat smoke, vanilla.
Nose: Huge smoke, seaweedy, "medicinal", with a hint of sweetness.
Palate: Suprising sweetness with hints of salt and layers of peatiness.
Finish: Lingering.
Nose: Perfumed, soft oak, touch of Christmas cake, sweet spice and raisins.
Palate: Pear notes to the fore, plus toasty oak, with some rich custard-tart sweetness.
Finish: Woody and spicy, slightly drying.
Nose: Vanilla with hints of ginger, dried fruits, sherry sweetness and wood smoke.
Palate: Sweet raisins, plums and prunes, rich sherry, dark barrel char and soft spice.
Finish: Sweet toffee, dried fruit and lingering spice.
Nose: Smoky, maritime NOSEwith hints of sticking plasters and toffee brittle.
Palate: Smoky, creamy palate with notes of marmalade, toffee apples and pear cider. A development of cloves comes late palate.
Finish: A long, malty finish with toasty oak and spice.
Nose: Fragrant toasted barley, dried grass, a little kipper smoke, citrus peels, green apple and brown sugar.
Palate: Honeyed oak and fruity coffee with that Islay peat again making its character gently known. Spicy porridge, lime and dry toast.
Finish: Peaty, peppered oak.
Nose: Good core of juicy barley. Ryvita with salted butter. Cinnamon-dusted-red berries, with a little green apple skin following it up.
Palate: Chomp Bars - lots of chewy caramel and chocolate here. Picks up from lively spice along the way, with a little bit of waxy orange peel on the mid palate.
Finish: Orange lingers. Surprisingly long, with the rye notes from the nose coming back in full force.
Nose: Treacle and butterscotch, with baked pineapple, sweet malt and fig.
Palate: Honeyed cinnamon and barley sugar, with a smidge of salt bringing balance alongside ripe orchard fruit.
Finish: Crystallised ginger lingers alongside vanilla and milk chocolate.
Nose: Soft, approachable, ripe fruit, and old oak with a dash of ginger and honey.
Palate: Soft again with sweet malt, a gentle grainy oak, and a distant smoked honey.
Finish: Delicate and smooth.
Nose: Sweet with spices and stem ginger in syrup. Orange zest, freshly ground black pepper and mixed peels.
Palate: Thick, spicy palate with notes of Seville orange marmalade and allspice. Peanut butter, toffee and barrel char develop later on.
Finish: An oily, spicy finish
Nose: Soft vanilla and sawdust as it opens, leading on to notes of dried fruit and mixed nuts.
Palate: Drying at first with oak and cinnamon, before hints of fresh apple and caramelised pear bring a juiciness to the palate.
Finish: A very subtle touch of smoke develops underneath toffee and blueberry on the finish.
Nose: Powerful peat-smoke with sea-water saltiness, the liquor of fresh oysters, a citrus sweetness.
Palate: A rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavours, warming and intense. At the back of the mouth is an explosion of pepper.
Finish: Huge, long, warming peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.
Nose: Deep malty aromas with hints of pear and sherry maturity.
Palate: Silky texture with a rich taste of malt and smoke.
Finish: Long finish with smoky and spicy tones.
